Delete Your Account

The Rationalist allows you to delete your account and all associated cloud data. This page explains what data is deleted, what is retained, and how to request deletion.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1: From within the app

  1. Open The Rationalist app
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon in the top right)
  3. Tap Sign Out in the Cloud Sync section
  4. Your cloud data sync will stop immediately

Option 2: Request full deletion via email

  1. Send an email to support@therationalistapp.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request"
  2. Include the email address associated with your account (the Google or Apple email you used to sign in)
  3. We will delete all your cloud data and account within 7 business days
  4. You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete

What Data Is Deleted

Authentication record (email, user ID) Permanently deleted
Cloud-synced reading progress Permanently deleted
Cloud-synced journal entries Permanently deleted
Cloud-synced quiz history & XP Permanently deleted
Cloud-synced starred passages Permanently deleted
Cloud-synced app settings Permanently deleted
Local data on your device Retained (uninstall app to remove)
Subscription (managed by Apple/Google) Not affected — cancel separately via App Store or Play Store

Retention period: Cloud data is deleted within 7 business days of receiving your request. No data is retained after deletion.

Important: Deleting your account does not cancel any active subscriptions. To cancel a subscription, visit your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings.
